EAST MEADOW, N.Y. - Three University of North Carolina men's swimmers -- Yuri Suguiyama, Reid Owen and Josh Glasco -- all earned honorable mention All-America honors Saturday night as the Tar Heel men's swimming team placed 23rd in the team standings at the 2004 NCAA Division I Men's Swimming and Diving Championships at the Goodwill Games Aquatics Center.

UNC scored 23 team points. Carolina's 23rd place finish was its best since the 1997 team placed 22nd at the NCAA Championships.

A pair of Tar Heels placed in the Top 13 of the 1500-meter freestyle as senior Yuri Suguiyama (Ijamsville, Md.) finished 10th with a time of 15:09.19 and junior Reid Owen (Chattanooga, Tenn.) placed 13rd with a clocking of 15:12.05, both earning honorable mention All-America honors. Sophomore Josh Glasco (Richmond, Va.) also earned honorable mention All-America honors as he placed 16th with a time of 2:00.24.

UNC qualified swimmers to compete in six swimming events at the 2004 NCAA Championships and scored points in four of the six events.
