UNC Women's Swimmers Finish 23rd At NCAA Meet
March 20, 2004 COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS - The University of North Carolina women's swimming and diving team finished in 23rd place at the 2004 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships held at Texas A&M University. The Tar Heels finished the meet with 31 points. Three Tar Heels earned All-America honors with their performances on Saturday night. Senior Jessi Perruquet placed 11th in the 100-meter freestyle as she was clocked in a time of 55.39 seconds after going 55.38 in the preliminaries. Sophomore Lizzy Bruce became a first-time All-America as she took 11th place in the 200-meter breaststroke with a time of 2:28.33 as she improved nearly a full second over her preliminary time. Senior Kelly Weeks placed 14th in the 200-meter butterfly with a time of 2:12.57.
Both Weeks and Perruquet earned All-America honors for the fourth straight year. On Friday, Perruquet also took third place in the 200-meter freestyle at the 2004 meet.
