ATHENS, GA. - Senior Eric Poitras headed the performance of North Carolina divers on the first day of competition at the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships Friday at the University of Georgia's Gabrielson Natatorium. Poitras placed ninth in the men's three-meter diving compeition as the senior from Regina, Saskatchewan had a score of 541.65 in the finals.

Poitras was one of three Tar Heels in the three-meter competition. Freshman Jon Fox placed 30th with a score of 264.45 points and sophomore Ryan Matuszak was 36th with 237.70 points.

On the women's side, sophomore gia Santoro led all Carolina finishers in the one-meter competition as she was 23rd with a score of 238.75. Senior Lindsay Waddell was 28th with 228.50 points, freshman Kirsten Ytterbo was 34th with 213.30 points and freshman Lauren Karatanevski was 40th with 197.60 points.
