CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- North Carolina's men's and women's swimming and diving teams geared up for the upcoming Atlantic Coast Conference Championships Friday afternoon by ending their regular season with dual meet wins over NC State at the Maurice J. Koury Natatorium.

Juniors Michael Chenier and Sean Quinn powered the #21 Tar Heel men to a 193.5-94.5 victory over the Wolfpack while senior Katie Hathaway, swimming in her final meet at Koury Natatorium, and sophomore Jessi Perruquet led the #12 UNC women to a 179-112 victory over NCSU.

Chenier captured two individual events for the Tar Heels as he clocked first in the 50-yard freestyle in 20.82 and first in the 100-yard freestyle in 46.67. Quinn took first place in the 100-yard breaststroke in 56.80 and in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:01.45. Quinn also swam the breaststroke leg on Carolina's victorious 200-yard medley relay.

On the women's side, Hathaway took top honors in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.05) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:17.42) and swam on the breaststroke leg on the winning 200-yard medley relay. Perruquet was first in the 50-yard freestyle and the 500-yard freestyle and she anchored the victorious 200-yard medley relay.

Carolina's men finish the regular season 5-4 and 3-2 in the ACC. The women finish 7-2 and 4-1 in the ACC. Next up are the ACC Championships at College Park, Md. which are February 21-23 for women and February 28-March 2 for men.

NC State finishes its regular season at home tomorrow against Clemson at 1 p.m. at Casey Natatorium. The Wolfpack men are now 3-4 overall and 2-3 in the league. The NCSY women are 3-4 and 2-3 in the ACC as well.
