Career Best Times: 4:26.80 in 500-yard freestyle; 9:12.33 in 1000-yard freestyle; 15:23.90 in 1650-yard freestyle
General: One of the nation's top distance freestylers coming out of the high school ranks in 2006-07...finished third in the 2007 U.S. 10k Open Water Swimming World Championship Trials...that earned him a spot in the 2008 Open Water World Championships in Seville, Spain in the 5k race...was the ninth place finisher last spring in the 5K event at the U.S. Championships so he showed great improvement in just a few months after recently taking up the event...finaled in two events at the 2007 U.S. Swimming summer nationals, placing seventh in the 1500-meter freestyle and 12th in the 800-meter freestyle...his incoming collegiate times would rank him eighth on the Tar Heels' all-time depth chart.
Prep: Graduated from Hempfield High School in Landisville, Pa. on June 5, 2007...swam four years for his high school team and a 200 and 500 freestyler and 200 IMer...a brilliant swimmer in the distance freestyle events from ages 9-18 for the Trident Swim Club...2007 Pennsylvania state champion in the 500 free...a high school All-America in the 500 free his sophomore through senior campaigns...All-State selection in the 500 free and 200 IM in 2005, `06 and `07...captained his high school and club teams in 2007...member of U.S. Swimming 2007 National Junior squad...Olympics Trials qualifier for 2008...a high school academic All-America...National Honor Society member...member of National Foreign Language Honors Society.
