Melissa Glyptis designs and implements the sport specific strength and conditioning programs for seven of the Olympic sports teams at the University of North Carolina. In addition to her responsibilities with fencing, varsity rowing, novice rowing, men's tennis, cheerleading, gymnastics and middle distance and cross country running, she assists with men's soccer, women's soccer, men's lacrosse, wrestling, track and volleyball under the direction of Greg Gatz. Glyptis also assists with women's basketball under the direction of Jeff Connors.
Education: M.S. Sport Science & Coaching (The University of Akron, 2005), B.S. Physical Education, Concentration: Exercises Science, Certifications: Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association (SCCC), National Strength and Conditioning Association (CSCS), Jump Stretch (flex band certified), Red Cross (CPR-PR, AED). Previous Coaching Experience: Minority Intern Assistant at Michigan State University (05-06), Volunteer Assistant at The University of Akron/ American University/ D.C. United (04-05), Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Cleveland Force (02-03) Playing Experience: Women's soccer at Kent State University (99-02, Goalkeeper). Women's professional football for Western Michigan and the Cleveland Fusion (04-06, linebacker/fullback/kicker). Melissa Glyptis joined the strength & conditioning staff in September of 2006 from Michigan State University. |
