Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach

Melissa Glyptis joined the UNC Strength and Conditioning staff in September of 2006 from Michigan State University.

Glyptis designs and implements the sport-specific strength and conditioning programs for nine of the Olympic sports teams at UNC. In addition to her responsibilities with varsity and novice rowing, men's tennis, men's and women's fencing, gymnastics, men's and women's cross country and middle distance, throwers, and cheerleading, she is the liaison between the strength staff and athletic training staff. She is responsible for the tracking of all injuries, as well as the production of modified strength and conditioning programs for all teams in the Olympic weight room. Glyptis assists with men's and women's soccer, men's lacrosse, wrestling, volleyball and swimming, as well as with women's basketball under the direction of Jeff Connors.

Education: M.S. Sport Science & Coaching (The University of Akron, 2005), B.S. Physical Education, Concentration: Exercises Science, Specialization: Exercise Specialist (Kent State University, 2003).

Certifications: Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association (SCCC), Unites States Weight Lifting (USAWSP)National Strength and Conditioning Association (CSCS), Jump Stretch (flex band certified), Red Cross (CPR-PR, AED).

Playing Experience: Women's soccer at Kent State University (99-02, Goalkeeper). Women's professional football for Western Michigan and the Cleveland Fusion (04-06, linebacker/fullback/kicker).
