Tar Heels Sweep Competition At Haverford Open

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The North Carolina fencing team remained undefeated in Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Fencing Assocation dual meets by sweeping the competition Sunday in round robin action at Haverford's Fieldhouse. The Carolina women opened with a 20-7 win against Johns Hopkins then went on to beat Army (20-7), Haverford (19-8) and New Jersey Institute of Technology (26-1). The UNC men kicked off the day with a 21-6 victory against Cornell before downing Army 26-1. After a 27-0 shutout over Yesheva, the Tar Heels beat Stonybrook (25-2), Stevens Institute of Technology (18-9) and NJIT (24-3) to close out the day. Throughout the day, the Tar Heels suffered just one loss, in women's epee to Haverford. Next up for Carolina is the 29th-annual Temple Open in Philadelphia. The Tar Heel women compete on Saturday and the men on Sunday. Haverford MACFA Open, Nov. 9 Women:
