Anna Margaret Ballance was born on January 8, 1988 in Rocky Mount, NC. She is the daughter of Luther Ballance, Jr. and Nancy Wiggins Ballance. Anna has 1 brother. A sophomore, Anna is majoring in Political Science and Peace, War, and Defense. She intends to pursue a career in International Conflict Resolution Mediation and Advising. Anna graduated from Rocky Mount Academy. In high school, Anna played Varsity Soccer and Club Girls Football. She was a captain of the soccer team and was a member of the Division All-Star Team. She was also a member of the Varsity Cheerleading squad. A strong student, Anna was in the National Honor Society and was the Student Government President. She was a Kiwanis and Sprint Scholarship Recipient. Anna walked on to the fencing team this fall and is a member of the women's epee squad. She is a gifted athlete who shows strong promise in the sport and should make rapid growth this season. Anna has many unique talents. Outside of fencing, she spends her time scuba diving, hiking, and fishing. She also enjoys skiing, baking, ceramics, reading, volunteering and photography.
