Spencer Welborn Position: Academic Counselor Education: B.S.: Business Administration, Elon, 2003 Master's: Sport Administration, Miami, 2007

Spencer Welborn joined the Academic Support Program in January of 2008 as an academic counselor. He works with the fencing, men's golf, men's lacrosse and wrestling teams and also oversees scholarships and awards for the department.

Welborn comes to Chapel Hill from the University of Miami, where he worked with baseball and football student-athletes as well as handling many other responsibilities. A native of Durham and graduate of Elon, where he majored in business administration, he earned his master's in sport administration from Miami in 2007.

While in Miami, Welborn also worked with the Florida Marlins, Miami Dolphins, Orange Bowl Committee and Sony Erickson Open, and coached a middle school baseball team.
