He was able to acquire most of these skills while in the Human Movement Science master's degree program at UNC.

Prior to arriving at UNC Gisselman worked at the University of Wisconsin at Madison as a strength and conditioning intern. He was part of the strength coaching staff that helped the Badgers win a Big Ten championship and Rose Bowl Title in 1998-99. While at Wisconsin Gisselman was privileged to work with many outstanding young athletes who currently play in the NFL including Heisman Trophy winner Ron Dayne. Gisselman is a 1999 graduate of the University of Wisconsin with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology.

Gisselman is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and a Level 1 Club Coach through USA Weightlifting.

In an effort to stay active Gisselman competes in many local, regional and national triathlons, mountain bike and road cycling races. He has competed for the past five years in the XTERRA Off-Road Triathlon Series and is a three-time national championship qualifier, having his strongest showing in the Midwest Regional Championship in 2005. He currently races for the Independent Fabrication Grassroots Team out of Somerville, Mass. Along with designing his own training plan he currently provides personal instruction to a number of multi-sport athletes and cyclists.
