Brent Blanton joined the University of North Carolina's Academic Support Program for Student-Athletes in January of 2005 after three years at the University of Southern California. Prior to working at USC, he worked for three years at Florida State University.

At Carolina, Blanton oversees the Olympic sports program, including directly advising the men's golf, wrestling, women's soccer, field hockey, softball and women's tennis programs. He also oversees the Academic Team Captains and tutorial programs. At USC, he served as Assistant Director of the Student-Athlete Academic Services program, and he coordinated the certification and eligibility monitoring of student-athletes at FSU.

Blanton is a native of Columbia, S.C. He graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1997 with a degree in broadcast journalism and earned his master's in sport administration from FSU in 1999.

Blanton and his wife, Robin, have a son, Cary, and twin daughters, Ashlyn and Abigail.
