CREED Kicks Off Year With Drum Circle
Sept. 11, 2007
The CREED Program kicked off its 2007-08 programming Monday night with something a little different. CREED is the foundation level of the Carolina Leadership Academy and throughout the school year freshman student-athletes get together one evening a month to focus on personal leadership. Meetings often include a speaker and discussion, but Monday's gathering was much more hands-on. Literally. About 150 student-athletes joined together in a traditional drum circle, playing a variety of percussion instruments for an immediate lesson on the value of teamwork. "We want them to understand that each of us brings special talents and by working together we accomplish so much more," said Cricket Lane, the CREED Program lead instructor. "Our hope is that, through the different programs we do, our freshmen will embrace the Carolina Culture and make the CREED a part of their lives." The entire year of programming for freshmen is centered on the Carolina CREED. For more information on the CREED Program and the Carolina Leadership Academy, click here.
