A total of 279 North Carolina student-athletes have been named to the 2006-07 Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Honor Roll, announced Monday by the ACC. The Tar Heel honorees are among a league-record 2,710 student-athletes recognized from the 12 conference schools.

All 28 UNC varsity sports are represented. Seventeen Tar Heels earned spots on the list for the fourth time in their careers. Four-time honorees are Robbie Bitner (men's swimming and diving), David Boole (men's soccer), Shannon Boyle (women's golf), Nathan Danneman (men's fencing), Anna Evans (softball), Joslin Higgins (softball), Georgia Kloss (women's track and field/cross country), Courtney Krolikoski (women's fencing), Elizabeth Lancaster (women's soccer/lacrosse), Micah Prendergast (men's fencing), Emily Reardon (women's swimming and diving), Miranda Ross (gymnastics), Morgan Russell (women's lacrosse), Adam Schauer (men's swimming and diving), Claire Smith (gymnastics), Adriann Spinks (rowing) and Courtney Turco (gymnastics).

Inclusion on the ACC Academic Honor Roll requires a grade point average of 3.00 or better for the full academic year. Overall, Duke led the way with 394 on the list, followed by Boston College with 393. After UNC with 279, Maryland had 259 and Virginia 221. Virginia Tech had 206, Florida State 204, Clemson 191, NC State 156, Miami 146, Wake Forest 131 and Georgia Tech 130.
