For Sophomores

July 9, 2007

If you have not already done so:

  • Register with University Career Services at http://careers.unc.edu.
  • Register with AlumniAthlete through TarHeelBlue.com.

    Also:

  • Visit University Career Services (located in Hanes Hall) to research possible job and internship interests.

  • Attend a Career Clinic, offered twice a week at UCS. (This 90-minute program can help you make decisions about your career and major.)

  • Make sure you have an up-to-date resume and have it critiqued by Dana Gelin, Cricket Lane or a UCS career counselor.

  • Begin to develop contacts within career fields you're considering. These contacts can help give you an idea about what the field is like and also may be able to help when you start your job search.

  • Plan for a summer job or internship in a field that interests you.

  • Build leadership skills through involvement with Carolina Leadership Academy and/or leadership roles on your team or with other campus organizations.

  • Decide on at least three people (coaches, professors, employers, etc.) who could serve as references for you.

Questions? Contact Dana Gelin at (919) 962-0083 or dgelin@uncaa.unc.edu.
