After more than a year of work and despite muddy conditions, the first-annual Build Blue and True 5K was staged on March 29 to great success. Organized by a coalition of UNC and Duke student-athletes, the event raised more than $2,500 for Habitat for Humanity.

The event took place at the UNC Ranson-Hamrick Cross Country Course adjacent to Finley Golf Course. A friendly competition between Duke and UNC fans at the height of the NCAA basketball tournaments, the 5K benefited Habitat for Humanity of Durham and Habitat for Humanity of Orange County.

With more than 110 registrants, the top time was turned in by Harrison Potter, who won in 18:16.0. Just behind him was the top women's finisher, Liz Wort, in 18:44.0.
