NCAA President Myles Brand spent April 19 on the University of North Carolina campus, meeting with students, coaches, faculty and administrators before delivering the keynote address celebrating the one-year anniversary of the Carolina Leadership Academy.

    To start his day at UNC, Brand met with Carolina's head coaches and athletics administrators.

    A former college president who holds a Ph.D. in philosophy, Brand spent part of his morning in the classroom.

    Brand spoke in a UNC philosophy class, Ethics in Sports.

    Brand spent his lunch hour meeting with the Student-Athlete Advisory Council, which is made up of representatives from each of UNC's 28 varsity teams.

    In the afternoon, Brand met with UNC's Faculty Committee on Athletics.

    Brand delivered the keynote address as UNC celebrated the one-year anniversary of the Carolina Leadership Academy.

    Following the speech, Brand participated on a blue-ribbon panel that discussed some of the challenges facing college athletics today. Participants were (from top) Brand, Carolina field hockey coach Karen Shelton, UNC Assistant Athletic Director for Football Student-Athlete Development Corey Holliday, Moeser, UNC President Emeritus Bill Friday, ACC Commissioner John Swofford, former Tar Heel student-athlete Malaika Underwood, Faculty Committee on Athletics chair Lissa Broome and Evans.

    The address and panel took place before a large crowd at the Kenan-Flagler Business School's Koury Auditorium.
