In August 2006, the Carolina Leadership Academy (CLA) unveiled a wall of honor commemorating and celebrating its 3-DL Award winners as Tar Heel Leaders of Distinction. The installation is located in Kenan Field House between the Student-Athlete Development and Academic Services wings.

The plaques are arranged by year of induction with new installments coming after the induction of each class at the annual CLA Recognition Banquet in April. The inaugural class of Tar Heel Leaders of Distinction in 2004-05 featured nine members. Another sixteen were added in 2005-06. Twenty-three are expected for 2006-07.
