Attend our winter camp being held this year at East Chapel Hill High School. Chad Holbrook, Scott Forbes and Matt McCay, assistant coaches of the University of North Carolina baseball team, along with Head Coach Mike Fox and current players, will provide a positive learning environment for you. The camp will be a quality baseball experience giving you the tools to become a better player. Your opportunity to attend a baseball camp this winter should be at the University of North Carolina winter camp. **Due to construction on a new facility this winter's camp will be held at East Chapel Hill High School.** Directions will be sent upon receipt of your camp application and deposit.
Camp Highlights
GEAR - Each camper will receive a camp tee shirt. There will be a limited amount of official Carolina Baseball items available for purchase during registration and at the end of camp.
QUALITY FACILITIES - The Carolina Baseball Winter Camp is held this year at East Chapel Hill High School. Construction has begun on a $25million renovation to Boshamer Stadium. East Chapel Hill has a nice facililty with covered hitting cages and new bullpens as well. Eddie Smith Field House (an 80-yard indoor astroturf practice football field on campus) will also be used as well as Henry Stadium (100 yard outdoor astroturf field on campus). Two field turf fields may also be used on campus in the case of inclement weather.
Airport Service - The Chapel Hill area is served by Raleigh-Durham International Airport. Transportation to and from RDU International Airport will be the responsibility of each camper.
About the Camp
Carolina Baseball Winter Camps are recommended for those baseball players who desire additional instruction during the off season. THE CAMP ALSO GIVES THE CAROLINA COACHING STAFF AN OPPORTUNITY TO EVALUATE EACH CAMPER AND THEIR SKILL LEVEL AND POTENTIAL.
HITTING/SKILLS and PITCHING/CATCHING CAMP -- DECEMBER 8-9, 2007

* Offered December 8-9, Saturday-Sunday, for 7th-11th graders. This camp is primarily a pitching/catching and hitting camp however the camp will also offer instruction on infield and outfield play. The camp begins Saturday at 9:00am (registration begins at 8:00am at EAST CHAPEL HILL HIGH SCHOOL) and ends Saturday at approximately 4:00pm. Sunday camps begins at 9:00am and ends at 1:00pm. Campers are responsible for their own lodging and travel. Lunch will be served to the campers on Saturday. There are generally no games played during this camp. 75 spaces are available.
Camp Staff
Head Coach Mike Fox
Head Coach Mike Fox is in his 10th season as head coach of the University of North Carolina. He has guided his alma mater to one of the most successful periods in program history, including eight trips to the NCAA Tournament and a runner-up finish in the 2006 and 2007 NCAA College World Series. The Tar Heels won a national best and school-record 57 games a year ago.
A 1978 UNC graduate, Fox is one of just 6 men to both play and coach in the College World Series. Prior to returning to Chapel Hill, Fox coached for 15 seasons at North Carolina Wesleyan and won the 1989 NCAA Division III national title.
Associate Head Coach Chad Holbrook
Associate head coach Chad Holbrook, a native of Shelby, N.C., is a 1994 graduate of UNC. He is currently the Tar Heels recruiting coordinator, outfield coach and first base coach. Coach Holbrook has been a part of the Tar Heels baseball program since coming to Chapel Hill as a player in 1989. His name appears often in the Carolina record books as he ranks among the program's career leaders in hits, games played, at-bats and triples during. In the summer of 1997 he served as head coach of the Harwich Mariners of the Cape Cod League. Known as one of the nation's top recruiters, he has led the Tar Heels to top-11 recruiting classes in three of the last four seasons, including the nation's No. 1 freshman class in 2004.
Assistant Coach Scott Forbes
Scott Forbes, who was an assistant coach with the University of North Carolina baseball program from 1999-2002, is in his third year as the Tar Heels' pitching coach. He has led the Tar Heels to top-12 finishes in the national ERA standings in each of the last two seasons and has helped his staff post the top two strikeout totals in UNC history in 2006 and 2007. Forbes served as an assistant at Winthrop University for three seasons before returning to Carolina. Prior to his stint with the Eagles, Forbes was on Mike Fox's staff at Carolina for four seasons, helping the Tar Heels to NCAA Regional appearances in 1999, 2000 and 2002. While in Chapel Hill, he assisted long-time pitching coach Roger Williams with instruction for the Tar Heels' hurlers and served as position coach for Carolina's catchers and corner infielders. Forbes was a standout player at North Carolina Wesleyan.
Assistant Coach Matt McCay
Former Tar Heel letterwinner Matt McCay is in his first season as an assistant coach at the University of North Carolina.
A two year standout at Carolina, McCay works with the Tar Heels' hitters, outfielders and catchers and will serves as the team's first base coach. He also is involved in on-campus recruiting and administrative duties and directs the program's summer camps.
After finishing his college career at North Carolina in 2000 McCay played six seasons of independent professional baseball.

Also on hand for the 2007 Carolina Baseball Winter Camp will be current 2007-2008 Tar Heel players and several local high school coaches.
Camper Safety
Rules For Safety
Carolina Baseball Camps always stronly desire to help insure the safety of each camper and provide an overall positive camp experience.
Camp Rules
- Helmets MUST be worn when hitting at ALL times
- Helmets MUST be worn when feeding pitching machine
- Throw ONLY in the outfield all in one direction
- Campers MUST wear shirts and shoes at all times
- Coaches will supervise any and all work
- NO horseplay around stadium
- NO use of weight equipment or running machines unless supervised by a staff member
- Campers are NOT permitted in the coaches' office area
- Hats are NOT to be worn backwards
- Varsity locker room is off limits as well as the equipment room.
- Varsity Players Lounge will be closed during all camp sessions
- Listen, work, hustle, improve, and have fun
- Keep up with your own equipment -- Carolina Baseball Camp, Inc. is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Medical Staff
We have a certified NATA trainer at our camp to attend to the medical needs of the campers.
Injury or illness while at camp
In the event of any injury or illness, each camper will be evaluated by the NATA certified trainer. He/She may recommend that the camper sit out a session or revisit the trainer before the next session. The camper should follow the advice of the trainer as it is in his best interest to do so. If the camper has not registered a complaint, the trainer cannot always know there is something wrong just by looking at a camper. In the event the trainer recommends the camper see a physician, the trainer will try to contact you immediately.
Insurance
In the event of injury or illness while at camp, the camper will be taken to the UNC Hospital located within a mile of both the dorm and fields. It will be necessary for the insurance information that you provide on the waiver statement to be accurate. All campers must have their own medical insurance. Carolina Baseball Camps, Inc. provides excess coverage after your insurance policy has been utilized. Campers will not be allowed to participate unless the information is submitted and the form is signed by the parent or guardian of the camper.

Camp Details
Tuition
Tuition includes tee shirt, excess medical insurance, facility/equipment usage, lunch on Saturday and instruction. Tuition does not include travel to and from camp, travel to and from hotel, lodging and all other meals. Cost for this year's camps is $225.
Medical Forms
Once we have received your application and deposit, we will send the camper a registration letter and medical form. This medical form is to be completed by your physician verifying a physical within the past year. A camper is not allowed to participate without a completed medical form. Please bring this form with you to registration/check-in. DO NOT MAIL THIS FORM BACK TO US!
Availability of Camp Spaces
We anticipate all our winter camps being full. If you receive an application and have not mailed it to us by December 1, you must call our camp line to ensure the camp you have chosen has space available. If we receive an application for a camp session that is full we will return your deposit. We will update our camp voice mail on the availability of our winter camp sessions and spaces available.
What to Bring
REQUIRED
- Tennis shoes for turf or indoor work
- Spikes- rubber preferred but metal is permissable
- Baseball hat
- Glove
- Catchers bring their own equipment
- Warm baseball type clothing - Sweat pants and shirts okay
- Any medicine you might need (ibuprofen, allergy medicine)

Lost or Stolen Items
All personal equipment should have camper's name in permanent marker on them. Do not bring any expensive items to camp. Carolina Baseball Camps, Inc. or any camp counselors or directors are not responsible for lost or stolen items. at once.
Visiting Camp
We have an open-door policy regarding watching your son at camp. Should you want to arrange an official tour of campus, you will need to contact the Admissions Office at (919)966-3621.
REFUND POLICY
Your deposit (less a $100 cancellation fee) is refundable only if notification is received two weeks prior to your camp session. If a disabling injury or illness occurs and you let us know, in writing or by e-mail, at least one weeks prior to the beginning of your camp session, a full refund (less a $100 cancellation fee) will be returned. There is NO REFUND FOR NO SHOWS or those who contact us less than two weeks prior to the beginning of camp. Our camp refund policy is non-negotiable.
Getting There
Directions to Registration -- BOSHAMER STADIUM
FROM Virginia and Points North
Take I-85 South to Durham, NC. Exit left at US 15-501 in Durham and follow 15-501 approximately 9 miles to Chapel Hil. There will be a split of 15-501 in Durham so be sure to follow signs for Chapel Hill and stay to the right. Once in Chapel Hill, maintain 15-501 Bypass (Fordham Blvd). Around the 7th stoplight, turn right onto Manning Drive. Continue on Manning Drive until the first stoplight. You will see Ehringhaus Residence Hall on your right. (You should also see a gold sign for Carolina Baseball Camp) Turn right at the light onto Ridge Road. Approximately 1/2 mile on your right will be Boshamer Stadium.
FROM Points West
Take I-85 North towards Durham, NC. Exit just past Burlington onto NC-54 East (Exit #148, Chapel Hill). Follow NC-54 for approximately 20 miles to Carrboro. Go through two stoplights and stay on NC-54 until the next stoplight." Turn left at this light onto Manning Drive. Continue on Manning until first stoplight. You will see Ehrinnghaus Residence Hall on your right. (You should also see a gold sign for Carolina Baseball Camp) Turn right onto Ridge Road. Continue on Ridge Road approximately 1/2 mile and Boshamer Stadium will be on your right.
FROM Points East
Take I-40 West to Chapel Hill. Exit at NC-54 West (Exit #273B) and follow approximately 4 miles After the US 15-501 bpass, continue on straight on NC-54 up the long hill until the first stoplight. Turn left at stoplight (you should see a gold sign for Carolina Baseball Camp) onto Country Club Road. Make immediate right onto Ridge Road. Continue on Ridge Road approximately 1/2 mile. Boshamer Stadium will be on your left.
FROM Points South
Take US 15-501 North to Chapel Hill. Exit right onto 15-501 Bypass in Chapel Hill. Turn left at first stoplight onto Manning Drive. Continue on Manning until first stoplight. Turn right at light onto Ridge Road. Take a right onto Ridge Road (You should see a gold sign for Carolina Baseball Camp). Boshamer Stadium is 1/2 mile on your right.
Mail-In Registration
In order to register for camp a deposit of $100 must be sent in along with your application and signed waiver statement. More information will be mailed to you once we receive you're application and deposit. YOU CANNOT REGISTER FOR CAMP OVER THE TELEPHONE OR ONLINE. Credit cards are not accepted.
